What does it mean to have an iron will against society’s status quo? Three playwrights dive into this very question in The Iron Anthology. Via Brooklyn Theatre Co. presents an audio drama series of three horror stories that navigate the nightmares of brash industrialization, unchecked consumerism, and intergenerational trauma. The protagonists rage against the monsters of society. But is society itself too strong to break?

It’s the 1820’s and three prospectors are searching for iron ore deep in the rural North Eastern United States in the hopes of finally finding their fortune. However, when a malevolent presence warns that they are not welcome amongst the rural landscape, Abraham, Noah, and Matthew question their commitment to the quest and what prospecting means not only for their future, but their very lives themselves.

Adam Fitzgerald- Playwright

Adam is an Australian-British actor and writer, based between London and his home city of Melbourne. While training at Drama Studio London, Adam received the prestigious Carleton Hobbs Award; spending five months on the BBC Radio Drama Company rep after graduating. Since then, Adam has been active in various screen, stage and audio projects - performing alongside actors such as Richard Roxburgh, Charlotte Ritchie and Bill Nighy. His acting credits include The Crown (Netflix), Offie award-winning production of The Sugar House (Finborough Theatre) and international commercial campaigns for DHL and Skoda. Thanks to a titillating introduction to radio drama, Adam's ongoing passion is the world of voice over. He has performed in over thirty radio dramas and audiobooks to date and last year fulfilled a childhood dream to voice a character in a video game; providing full performance capture for the sci-fi epic Star Citizen: Squadron 42 (Cloud Imperium Games). ORE is Adam's debut commision as a writer. He is very grateful to all the talented people involved in bringing this piece to life and hopes it will be the first of many.

Jack Collard- Director

Jack is a London based actor, director and producer. He trained at LAMDA. He has worked across a wide variety of performance mediums, both domestically and internationally, including Film, Theatre, Performance & Motion Capture, Puppetry, Voice Over, Radio, and Virtual Reality. Selected credits include: for screen, Chris Heifner (Episode Lead) in Banged Up Abroad for National geographic, a guest role on Intergalactic (Moonage Pictures/Sky), Belgravia (Carnival Productions/ITV); on stage in The Book of Dust – La Belle Sauvage (London Theatre Company/The Bridge Theatre, directed by Nicholas Hytner), Monica:This play is not about Monica Lewinsky (59E59, NYC/Edinburgh), and Magpies and Mischief (Jersey Arts Centre); and provided performance/motion capture for, AAA game (currently under NDA) at The Imaginarium Studios, and PS4 game Family Feud (Snap finger, Click!/Ubisoft).

Andre Bullock- Noah

Andre is an Actor, trained at Rose Bruford and Drama Studio London. He has worked in Film, TV and theatre, his screen credits include Casualty (BBC), The Sandman (Netflix), Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (Disney). His Theatre credits include The Talented Mr Ripley (The Faction) and Sincere as Objects (Volcano Theatre).

Ian Harkins- Matthew

Ian grew up in London and in New York, and came to theatre and drama from studying them at Cornell University and RADA. His credits as an actor involve several film and television projects; selected credits include Elementary (CBS), Forever (ABC), Boardwalk Empire (HBO), Red Oaks (Amazon Studios), and The Knick (Cinemax). He can be seen next year in the HBO miniseries The Plot against America. His theatre credits include work Off-Broadway, regionally, and across the pond in his native London. He can also be seen and heard in a variety of commercials, podcasts, and videogames. As a director, he directed 3 productions in New York City, and has been nominated for Best Director at the Innovative Theatre Awards. In his role as a producer, he has found huge joy in putting on a wide variety of shows, which he has brought to the company since its founding. In his spare time, Ian enjoys overburdening himself with his two adorable rescue puppies, Biscuit & Crumpet.

Issie Riley- Jane/Creature

Issie is an actor, singer, songwriter, and all-around cool person. She spent most of her life training for musical theatre, resulting in an Acting (MT) degree from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Since graduating in 2020, she has dubbed for Netflix (Alrawabi School for Girls and Gloria ) and Amazon Prime (Mixte and The Mad Woman's Ball). From those projects, she has had the joy of working with the wonderful team at ViaBrooklyn on 'Ore', as well as voicing a lead character for a horror video game with NFST. Aside from her voice work, she has had the joy of performing at the Almeida Theatre in Beth steel's original new play 'The House of Shades' with a magnificent cast earlier this year. Recently she filmed a short film with J.E.T Studio Productions which should be out in 2023, and has spent the rest of her spare time writing and composing new music for her developing musical, and her band.

Blood

Kayla is forced to sequester at her husband’s ancestral home in South Korea, amidst a scandal involving him grooming underage girls, with only her loyal dog by her side and her daughter on the other end of the phone to keep her company. Yet when frightening signs of a tortured spirit start to appear at the house, Kayla must appeal for help to right not only her sins, but those of her husband and ancestors as well.

Nina Ki- Playwright

Nina is a Queerean (Queer + Korean) American playwright who was born and raised in Los Angeles, but currently lives in Brooklyn. Xe graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 2008 with a BFA in Dramatic Writing, and xer plays have been read, recorded, and presented nationwide, including with MCC Theater, Queens Theatre, Yale Summer Cabaret, and The Parsnip Ship. Xer play “Moon Bear” was given special consideration for the Relentless Award, and xer play “Ravage” was a finalist for the Playwrights Realm's Fellowship. Xe is also an inaugural member of The Parsnip Ship's Radio Roots Writer's Group, and is currently a member of Clubbed Thumb's Early Career Writer's Group. Vik Sivalingam- Director

 

Vik is a London based Theatre Director. He has worked in theatres all over the UK including the Almeida, the Old Vic, the Royal Court, Tricycle Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Sheffield Crucible, the New Wolsey Theatre and Headlong Theatre. Vik was Resident Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company and on Made in Dagenham- the Musical at the Adelphi Theatre (West End, London). Internationally, he has directed in New York, Amsterdam, Kuala Lumpur and Rio de Janeiro. Selected directing credits include The Ice Cream Boys (World Premiere, Jermyn Street Theatre), There of Here (London Premiere, Park Theatre), Home (London Premiere, The Last Refuge), The Drunken City (London Premiere, Tabard Theatre), Twelfth Night (Iris Theatre), Macbeth (Sainsbury Theatre), The Tempest (Rio Olympics), Invisible Man (RSC @ Park Avenue Armory, NY), The Radio Serenade (Medicine Show Theatre, NY), Much Ado About Nothing (The Whitman Theatre, NY), In Arabia, We’d All Be Kings (Carne Theatre), Wild Honey (Sainsbury Theatre), Posh (Greenwood Theatre), Closer (New Crescent Theatre) and Crimes of the Heart (Old Rep Theatre). Mark Takeshi Ota- General Kobayashi/

Lawyer

Mark Takeshi Ota is a German-Japanese actor and voice actor. Having worked on stage, screen and motion capture as well as voice overs his work covers a multitude of areas. Having grown up in Germany he moved to London in 2012 and trained at the Arts Educational Schools London. He now mainly works in English but also speaks fluent German, Japanese and Dutch. His stage credits include working with the Royal Court Theatre, Theatre 503, Finborough Theatre and the Kings Head Theatre. As a voice actor he is most well known for voicing the title character in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and his most recent screen credits include the feature films “Little English” and “The Impact"

Tammie Rhee- Kayla/Kyung-Ja

is an American actor who has lived in London for nearly 6 years. She can currently be seen in Wedding Season now streaming on Disney+. She is very honoured and proud to be involve in the Iron Anthology. Other credits include: Babaa’s Footsteps (Honey-Tongued Theater Productions/Vaults Festival), I Will Miss You When You Are Gone (Starbound Theatre/Hens and Chickens), Shadowlands (HK Players/HK Rep Black Box) and The Sneeze (HK Microfest/Beetroot Productions/Fringe Club). She studied acting at T Schreiber Studios and the Barrow Group, both in New York and has recently taken up improv again. She is also the Associate Producer at New Earth Theatre. Prior to getting involved in theatre, she worked in documentary film production and has written a corporate history. When she is not working, she loves to travel and spend time with her family.

Yuna Shin- Mother/Shaman

Yuna is a classically trained Korean actress based in London, UK. Her credit includes Halo(Paramount+/ Amblin Television), Treadstone(USA Network) and Opposite Borders(Galway Film Fleadh Best human rights film). She is currently out in the Mediterranean filming her recurring role in a new British TV series. Yuna has been training in Taekwondo for the past five years and recently earned her blackbelt.

Maryhee Yoon- Ji-Hye/Soon-Hee

Maryhee Yoon is a queer Korean-American actor and writer based in London. She trained at East 15 Acting School 2016-2019 and is represented by BMA Artists. Her recent acting credits include Audible's original comedy-drama "The Day The Earth Didn't Die" (2022), “Petal” (Omnibus Theatre 2022), Christmas in London (feature film 2022), The Rabbit Hole (short film, 2022), and The Cradle (radio play, 2021). Her writing credits include “Tokyo Rose” a new musical that was nominated for the Visionary Honours Award (BAFTA) for Best New Play/Musical 2022, and “Fogged” a new play in association with Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation 2022. Her guaranteed-good-time pastimes include not very impressive crafting (done with vigour), cooking Korean food, yoga, long woozy-doozy walks.

Nesba Crenshaw (she/her) is very pleased to work with Via Brooklyn on her first (hint hint) production with this exciting company. Previous voice/radio work includes: Believe It: Money with Sir Ian McKellan and Richard Wilson; Dr Who: The Year of Martha Jones; The Division 2; The Last Warrior; Zombies Run!. TV and Film includes: The Crown s3; The Nevers; The Phantom Warrior; When the Screaming Starts; Daddy Issues, The Honourable Rebel. Theatre work in the US and UK includes multiple productions with The Guthrie Theater, Atlantic Theater (Off-Broadway); The Old Vic, The Gielgud Theater, Trafalgar Studios (West End); Frinton Summer Theatre; Southwark Playhouse; The Old Red Lion; The Vaults; The Union Theatre; Cockpit Theatre; The Tabard Theatre; The Lion and Unicorn Theatre (regional and fringe). Cori Hundt- Rachel

Cori (She/Hers) is an award-winning American actor, writer, and producer. She has performed theatre in the UK (EdFringe, The Wallace Collection), Off-Broadway (59E59, Atlantic Stage 2, Abingdon, Broadway Comedy Club), and regionally in the US (Rochester Fringe Festival, International Shakespeare Center, 12 Miles West, Southampton Cultural Center) as well as in various film (Viacom), TV (HBO, Biography Channel, NBC Peacock), commercials, voiceover, and print work. Recently she could be found acting in and producing Testament which won 5 BroadwayWorld Off-Broadway Awards and premiered at 59E59, EdFringe (Assembly), and the Rochester Fringe Festival. She is also a Co-Artistic Director of Via Brooklyn, which develops theatrical productions, coupled with interactive programming, to engage audiences around the world. Her writing has been featured in various outlets such as Backstage Magazine and StageAgent.com. Cori graduated from LAMDA with an M.A. in Classical Acting for the Professional Theatre, with merit, as well as from Middlebury College, magna cum laude, with a joint B.A. in Theatre/English and American Literatures. When she’s not acting, writing, or producing, Cori can be found playing with her rescue pups Biscuit & Crumpet (yes- there’s a bit of theme!), traveling to obscure locations on her bucket list, or diving for balls in center field on her softball team.

Miya James- Lizzie

Miya (she/her) is a Japanese / British / American actor and a recent graduate of LAMDA. Professional credits include ‘The 47th’ (The Old Vic).

Saskia Marguerite- Monica

(she/her) is an actor, trained at California Institute of the Arts. She has worked in a myriad of artistic mediums, from physical theatre to voice acting. Saskia has most recently finished shooting a supporting role in a Disney+ feature film (2022). She also performed to acclaim in The Speakeasy in San Francisco, as Viola (Boxcar Theatre Company 2017). Since moving to London, Saskia has been involved in multiple immersive theatre projects, including pioneering the role of Ada in Moonshine Saloon (Inventive Productions 2019-2021) and in Secret Cinema's Ghostbusters as Janine Melnitz (2022). Saskia is also constantly working in voice over, recently reading Jodi Arias's diaries for Discovery+ Jodi Arias documentary (2021). She lives on a boat in East London with her man and her dog, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Psychology.

Emmanuel Olusanya- Lance

Emmanuel graduated Staffordshire University in Acting & Theatre Arts with a First to then being accepted into LAMDA soon after, where he is a recent graduate in 2021. He also is a rapper and songwriter, having released his debut single, ‘Runnin’ in May 2022 and having further cemented his arrival with the follow-up single “Let’s Go”. His credits include Flashbang (The Lion & Unicorn Theatre), The King & The Trumpet (Vault Theatre), Elegies for Angels, Punks & Raging Queens (King’s Head Theatre), Hospital Food (NT Connections), High Torches (Birdie Theatre Company)

Rafe Terrizzi- Jern

Rafe (He/His) is a Co-Founder and Co-Artistic director of Via Brooklyn. He has worked as an actor, producer, director, and sound designer in New York City for 20 years. Selected acting credits include: A Wilder Christmas (Peccadillo Theater), The 39 Steps (Via Brooklyn), Tales End (Hangar Theater), She Stoops To Conquer (Hudson Warehouse), As You Like It (Princeton Rep.), Henry IV, Pt. II (Shakespeare In Delaware Park), Flight Of Angels (Emelin Theater), and Candide (NYC Opera, directed by Hal Prince). He has appeared in the films “Howl”, “A Good Marriage”, and “Back To The Front”. He Studied acting at the William Esper Studio, Actors Movement Studio, and the Tom Todoroff Studio & Conservatory, where he also served as a producer.
